To say that Jesus would be called “Immanuel” means Jesus is God, that He dwelt among us in His incarnation, and that He is always with us. Jesus was God in the flesh. Jesus was God making His dwelling among us (John , 14). God keeps His promises. The virgin Mary bore a son. Two thousand years ago, in Bethlehem, we see that baby born.   This same son is called “Immanuel” in , which is explained in as “God with us,” accounting for Matthew’s linking the two portions of Isaiah together. In Isaiah describes his two sons, Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz and Shear-Jashub (cf. ), as “signs and symbols in Israel,” which description ties back in with the sign God.

In Matthew's gospel Jesus is called Immanuel. Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel," which is translated, "God with us"(Matthew ). This is not a personal name. In Isaiah it is seen as fulfilled, not in the naming of Jesus, but in the whole account of His origin and naming. It is. Christ- Emmanuel, or God with Us "They shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us."- Matthew "All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they .

Matthew connected My birth to a prophecy from Isaiah and identified Me as the promised "Immanuel" (Isaiah ) — which means "God with us" (Matthew ). More than just a statement of My divinity as God in human flesh, "Immanuel" is a reminder that I AM the eternal and immortal God, Who became flesh and walked among you to reveal God to you. Immanuel was formed as an independent Lutheran congregation in In , we became a member congregation of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS). The Missouri Synod is a doctrinally conservative church body with more than 6, member congregations.
